PROJECT CHIMPS

Project Chimps, a 236-acre sanctuary nestled among the beautiful mountains of northern Georgia, will be home to 220 privately owned chimpanzees from New Iberia.  This exciting new sanctuary, with support of the Humane Society of the United States and other private donors, will provide a permanent home for those chimpanzees not owned by the NIH.  The NIH owned and supported chimpanzees will be moving to Chimp Haven.   The launch of Project Chimps ensures that virtually all of the chimpanzees who have lived in laboratories will get to retire to sanctuary.
